Tyler, 9 months

I took Tyler's 9 month pictures back in December.  It was extra special because I took his sister Addie's 9 month pictures back in 2010 [see HERE].  I had some flashbacks during the session, because they were so similar.  Tyler was a little sober at first, but I managed to get a few smiles out of him.  This was a fun change from my everyday newborn sessions.  Tyler was a lot bigger, squirmier and drooled a lot more than newborns do, haha!  He kept me on my toes!

Jackson Family

I photographed the Jackson family at the end of October.  It was pretty chilly outside, but they were rockstars.  The park in Boise was absolutely gorgeous with pretty leaves and fall colors.  It was extra special doing this family session because they waited for baby James for a long time.  It was awesome to capture the joy of their family!

Em is such an amazing big sister!

Senior Portraits: Kyla Class of 2012

I had the pleasure of doing Kyla’s Senior Portraits a week and a half ago. I’ve known Kyla through church for a long time. Kyla is one of the nicest girls you will meet and has a beautiful heart. Thank you Kyla for such a great day! This was definitely one of my favorite photo sessions I’ve ever done.

You may recognize Kyla from THIS project I did last year for school.

I had the hardest time narrowing down her pictures for the preview, but somehow I did it. It was fun to go through them with her and her parents. There were some tough choices, but they finally got down to their favorites.

photo of the week

My photo of the week turned into two instead of just one. I took these back in July when I did family photos for my aunt's family. These two cuties are my cousin's kids, Kristopher and Kaitlyn. We don't see each other often, but they were visiting for Christmas this past week and so I thought I would post these now.

I told them to smile and this is what I got. Don't you love it?

Adilynn, 9 months

Here are the rest of Miss Addie's 9 month pictures. Like I said in my previous post, I set up a studio in the dining room next to the large dutch doors. I had been afraid it would be too dark because of storms passing through, but the clouds lifted and gave me gorgeous light. After sitting for a while she got bored, so she pulled herself up to look out. Then she started crying so her daddy tried to make her laugh. I just can't get over how cute she is!

Senior Portraits, Gina Class of 2010

My wonderful cousin Suzie referred Gina to me. She was the first senior session I did all on my own. It was a different experience to not have Debb coaching me, which I missed because we were such a good team. Anyway, Gina was a sweetheart and I had so much fun with her photoshoot! Thanks to Heather for coming along as my assistant and an extra thanks for carrying my camera bag so I didn't have to. :) Enjoy!

If anyone has any idea what the story behind these tattoos is, I would LOVE to know!

Cats with no ears

I just took in two of the cutest cats ever, and so I have had cats on the brain lately. Because of this, I thought I'd do some searching for bad cat tattoos. I am SURE there are worse ones out here, but this is what I found- three cat tattoos without any ears. Why would you ever draw a cat without ears? It just makes them look like weird aliens!


This looks like a Lisa Frank drawing without the pizazz.


This is the most half-assed tattoo I have possibly ever seen. Why are the eyes sideways? Why are the whiskers blue? Where are the ears? So many unanswered questions!


This is a mix of the lady's five cats and some human (the right eye). Why the human has a lazy eye, I don't know. I also think the cat is actually the bark of a tree.


And finally, while not technically terrible, this butterfly-cat holding a flower and inexplicably wearing pants makes me laugh.

The Crow

I haven't gotten a tattoo in a year, and have been feeling the itch. I have an appointment for this upcoming Wednesday. I decided to get two big crows with lightning bolts, they'll probably on my ribs, unless I wuss out. It's kind of a memorial tattoo for my dad, but not totally. Anyway, I'll post pictures and you guys can feel free to make fun of them as much as you want. In anticipation of my appointment, I decided to do some looking around for terrible crow tattoos. I found a lot.

Full disclosure: I was really into The Crow when I was a teenager. Here's a photo of me being totally awesome when I was 13 or 14.

I don't have any ridiculous makeup on in that photo, but I definitely went to school made-up like the crow. The movie was filmed in my hometown (Wilmington, NC) and I went on a pilgrimage to see where Brandon Lee died. I listened to the soundtrack to the movie every day. I still really enjoy the movie. Regardless of my history with the movie, my crow tattoo idea has nothing to do with the movie The Crow. These people's tattoos do. There are so many sweet crow images out there, I don't know why they picked these out....

So here you go. Awful crow tattoos!

I don't understand the spacing and sizing on this. It looks like the tattoos just got slapped on completely randomly. Also the little spritzes of red and yellow are a real nice touch. What is the black blob on the left? Can anyone tell?
