Author: Jennifer Jackson

These days seems like tarantulas don't scare too many people, so you say! one of the main contributing factors of people not being as scared as before about tarantulas seems to be because more people are keeping exotic pets than ever before.

Tarantulas might not scare people like they used to but having a tarantula tattoo design should scare you as there are a few things you should consider before getting one.

No matter how scared people say they are of tarantulas they still say they find them intriguing. Tarantulas are now becoming popular as pets because they look hairy or some say furry and they are less of a hassle to keep compared to other dogs or cats. Yes tarantulas are now a common pet in people's homes!

Will tarantulas ever be as popular as dogs or cats? I don't think so, but this is not slowing the trade down, there are two species as popular as some of the most popular dogs and cats and that is the Mexican red knee tarantula and the Chilean rose tarantula The Mexican red knee tarantula was so popular that it was nearly extinct through people collecting them as pets so now they are regarded as endangered species.

How to select the best tarantula tattoo design for you.

of course getting a tarantula tattooed on you might not seem to difficult.

It might not have crossed your mind just how many tarantula species there are out there in the world but did you know that every single week new species are being found?

You might not have known it before reading it that there are two main types of tarantulas to choose from when getting a design the ground dwelling species and the tree dwelling tarantula species to choose from Now you will also need to choose whether you would like the small or the large tarantula species! Are you going to have the old world tarantula species or the new world tarantula species, there is also a difference between the two! you might be thinking that surly it cant be that difficult when choosing which species or where they live when getting the tattoo, but it really is and it will affect your design.

So what does tarantula mean, Do you know?

The tarantula takes its name from the town of Taranto the principal town of Apulia, near where the spider is found. A large spider, it is unusual in that it does not trap its prey by spinning a web, but rather uses its speed to catch its victims, before using venom secreted from glands in the jaw, to kill its prey

In olden times, Apulia was known for the prevalence of a disease called 'tarantism'. this Tarantism somehow causes an hysterical condition in the sufferer, with one characteristic feature being the sudden desire to dance, in a wild and rapid whirling motion. In fact, the dance was one of the body's natural defences against the illness, with the rapid activity helping to work the illness out of the body, through perspiration. The Italian dance, the tarantella, originates from this.

While the name 'tarantism' is now believed to also have been derived from Taranto, it was previously commonly supposed, by Kircher for example, that the illness was a result of the bite of a tarantula spider, and that the name originated with spider which was large, hence the reason we call them tarantuls. Accordingly, it was believed that the cure for the bite of the tarantula was to perform the dance.

Helpfully, Kircher depicts the region populated by the spider, and gives two drawings, the underside and top. Finally, should one be unfortunate enough to get bitten, Kircher gives a recommended piece of music - 'Antidotum Tarantulæ' - for the victim to dance to, to cure the bite

So this was thought where this world originated from though, there are plenty of misconceptions none the less is, the reason we use this world tarantula as it is today.

Let's start with the basics, if you are considering tarantula tattoo designs, then chances are you have already thought of spider tattoo designs. After all they are from the same family, both spin webs, both have eight legs though tarantulas sometimes look like they have ten legs due to their pedipulps in the front of their bodies that they use for mating. Lets discuss the old world tarantula species found mainly on the African and Asian continents.
